概要 | This study attempts to clarify the attitudes of young Japanese consumers towards the purchase of second-hand clothing. In recent years, there has been an increasing global focus on ethical consumption with the aim of achieving a sustainable society. At the same time, fashion consumption is deeply linked to social identity and self-concept, and young people in particular have become mass consumers of fashion (Joung & Park-Poaps, 2013). It is important to identify young people's attitudes towards sustainable fashion in order to increase their sense of participation in a sustainable society. While there are a number of studies investigating young people's motivations and decisions to consume sustainable fashion (e.g. Sorensen & Jorgensen, 2019; Xu et al., 2014), this study follows the methodology of McNeill and Venter (2019) and conducts interviews with young people who prefer second-hand clothing in Japan. |
