概要 | Microfiltration (MF) membranes are known to have difficulty in completely removing bacteria due to variations in bacterial size and deformability. In this study, the microbial community of coliform bacteria in the permeate of a membrane bioreactor (MBR) system was analyzed, revealing that the composition varied depending on membrane pore size. While Enterobacter spp. and Citrobacter spp. dominated in the activated sludge, Enterobacter spp. and Klebsiella spp. were more prevalent in the permeate. For public health risk assessment of MF-treated wastewater, Escherichia coli may not be a suitable indicator species, as it is more readily retained by MF membranes compared to other coliform bacteria. |
