概要 | The substance-producing strain Escherichia coli LS5218 was co-cultured with the freshwater green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii C-9: NIES-2235, and its cellular responses were evaluated using microbial methods and transcriptomic analysis. Even when using the green alga as a nutrient source, E. coli exhibited a growth rate comparable to that in Luria–Bertani medium. Transcriptomic analysis revealed upregulation of genes related to glycolysis and lipid synthesis, while genes involved in lipid degradation were downregulated. These responses suggest carbon source assimilation, indicating that E. coli can directly utilize Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a nutrient supplier. |
