概要	The main purpose of this study was to examine the receptive pragmatic ability of Japanese learners of English as a foreign language (EFL). For this purpose, a multiple-choice comprehension test was developed, focusing on four face-threatening acts (FTAs) in English: complaints, corrections, refusals, and requests. This paper reports the process of the test development and the results of the test given to 2,792 Japanese university students.
